Crash Team Racing is making a return next summer with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, a HD remaster of the classic PS1 racing title.

Developed by Beenox and published by Activision, the game is “built from the ground up” and remasters the original game with sharp, HD graphics. All the tracks are back, and the roster of available racers includes familiar faces like Crash, Coco, Dr. Neo Cortex, and other Crash Bandicoot characters.

Players must race to save the planet from destruction at the hands of the egomaniacal Nitros Oxide, and Nitro-Fueled will see the return of Adventure, Arcade Single Race and Cup Race, Time Trials, and Battle Mode. There is also the option to go head to head against friends, either online or offline.

Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head at Beenox, had this to say on the game:

The love that fans have for Crash Team Racing goes beyond just a fun kart racing game, and we’re excited to finally show fans what we’ve been working on to celebrate its 20th anniversary… Not only are we revamping Crash Team Racing from the kart up in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, we are giving fans a whole lot more including all the characters and tracks they love, with tons of added animations and personality that the original platform just couldn’t convey. We can’t wait to see fans go head-to-head as they test their Crash kart racing mettle in online multiplayer.”

The Nitros Oxide Edition is the digital deluxe edition of the game, and makes Nitros Oxide playable from day one in all game modes. It also comes with Oxide’s Hovercraft kart, space-themed skins for Crash, Coco, and Cortex, and much more. However, players that don’t purchase the Nitros Oxide Edition will still be able to earn Oxide in-game by completing challenges in Adventure Mode.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is available for preorder now and releases on June 21 2019. The standard edition will retail for $39.99, while the Nitros Oxide Edition will be $59.99.
