With the Year of Luigi nearly at an end, it seemed likely that we’d seen the last of this year’s surprises related to the green-clad plumber. After all, we’d already seen a number of Luigi-centric titles and events in 2013. Well, it appears that Club Nintendo in Europe still has at least one more surprise up its sleeves with the Year of Luigi commemorative coin. The coin comes in a special green pouch adorned with the Club Nintendo logo to keep it safe, and it will set Luigi fans back 1,500 star coins.
Nintendo has given out Year of Luigi coins at some of its recent special events in the US, but the company hasn’t offered it through our version of Club Nintendo just yet. It would not, however, be unprecedented for a European Club Nintendo exclusive to remain just that. Club Nintendo members in Europe also recently received a copy of the Wind Waker HD soundtrack for registering the game.
