Bubble Bobble is one of those franchises that just cracks a smile on to so many faces. Bub and Bob have been part of the video game landscape for decades now, although for many fans their memories of the twin Bubble Dragons will likely be of their other game series, Bust-a-Move. Bubble Bobble hasn’t seen a new entry since Bubble Bobble Plus! on WiiWare back in 2009. The drought is about to come to an end, thankfully, now that it’s been revealed that Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is coming to Nintendo Switch! Peep the trailer:

Here’s what fans can expect from the title (which is the first game to come from TAITO since its reemergence as a game dev!):

As in the previous highly popular series, the thrilling and epic bubble fight starts again!

One night, a child’s room became enfolded by a miraculous light and every object under its rays suddenly came to life – including the child’s most favourite toy, the little dragon called Bub. Full of jealousy, the wicked magician Baron von Blubba challenges the friendly dragon to battle.

In the ’80s and ’90s, the players jumped through the levels either solo or in the two-player mode. In the new part of the popular Bubble Bobble series, a 4-player cooperative mode is integrated, providing even more fun with friends.

Interestingly, our Euro brothers and sisters will be the first to play Bubble Bobble 4 Friends on November 19. The rest of the us will have to be content with an amorphous 2020 release window. Strictly Limited Games will be handling a physical collector’s edition of the game, but there’s no word on if it will or won’t be coming to North America. Still, more Bubble Bobble (whether digital or physical) is only a good thing, in this writer’s estimation, and thus the wait is… acceptable-ish.
