There was a lot of furor over Bethesda’s recent ports of Doom and Doom II on Nintendo Switch. The games (alongside Doom 3) themselves were a welcome sight on the eShop, but for many fans it was quite disheartening to find that they couldn’t be played unless users were logged into their Bethesda.net user accounts. Needless to say, this was quite frustrating for those without an account and/or who weren’t anywhere near a WiFi connection but wanted to play Doom/Doom II on the go.
We’ve deployed a patch for the re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II, which now adds an option to skip the Bethesda net login requirement and removes the disconnect notification during gameplay. pic.twitter.com/KtlbRvmRyJ

Well, as the above Tweet explains, Bethesda has thankfully heard fan outcry and remedied the situation. Players are no longer required to login to Bethesda.net and be online in order to play either game. Thus, anyone’s dream of slaughtering demons while sitting on the bus can now be fulfilled.
