Banjo-Kazooie Screen

Banjo-Kazooie fans haven’t had a whole lot to celebrate in a while. After Nintendo sold Microsoft to Rare, the franchise never quite found the same acclaim it did on Nintendo 64. Over the weekend, the game’s composer, Grant Kirkhope, gave fans one reason to celebrate as he made the soundtrack to the original Banjo-Kazooie available for download on his Bandcamp page. Kirkhope touts the soundtrack as “everything and the kitchen sink.” That’s because it encompasses everything he composed for the game, including minor sound effects for doors opening, item collecting, and more.

Video game soundtracks can be a bit pricy, but fans that are low on cash can get these tracks for a great price. Kirkhope has set up a pay what you want model: all fans have to do is type in the amount they want to pay, and the 164 tracks will be available for download. No matter what you pay, it will almost certainly be worth the price. The soundtrack has a number of fans here at Nintendojo. We even devoted one of our Tracks of the Week to Witchyworld, a Kirkhope-composed track from the game’s sequel.

What’s your favorite Banjo-Kazooie track? Let us know in the comments below, and maybe we’ll even feature it in an upcoming Track of the Week!
