Nintendojo is one of the oldest and most persnickety Nintendo fan sites on the Internet. We were founded in 1996 by Peer Schneider, who leapt from this humble fan creation to work at IGN64, and now is SVP of Content Creation at IGN Entertainment. What started out as a one-man operation hosted on AOL.com has blossomed into what you have before you — an enduring web presence that remains a non-profit, voluntary labor of love meant to celebrate video game culture and Nintendo.

Nintendojo was so named to avoid being just about Nintendo 64, as well as reflect a focus on Japanese news — particularly since Peer had spent four years in Japan, and he felt other for-profit news sites weren’t providing adequate overseas coverage. Unfortunately, the Nintendo 64 wasn’t a great success or news generator in Japan, so Peer tweaked Nintendojo’s focus to highlight U.S. and European game titles and news.

Ever since then, Nintendojo has had a staff of great writers who have hailed from the U.S., Canada and countries around the world– Ireland, England, Australia, Spain, Japan and Korea to name a few. The folks who have worked here have gone on to work at game development companies, professional game sites, PR firms and more. We’re happy to have been a part of their careers, and we’re just as happy that you’re still here checking us out, readers.

Yet that’s not the end of our evolution. In 2010, we decided to change our content focus once more. After more than a decade, there are so many websites out there now doing the daily news-and-reviews grind, and it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. That’s why we’ve moved into a weekly issue format. We’ll still have news and reviews, but we’ll also have a lot more of the fun feature content that we’ve been known for since the start, in nifty themed packages.

We hope you enjoy the new Nintendojo. We’re now providing even more types of content than before, from words to audio to video, and we’re excited to hear what you think about it. So subscribe to the RSS feeds below, register an account with us, and leave some feedback!
