Forums Terms of Use & Guidelines Part 2
The official structure for moderation from our side is as follows:
  • First offense: A private warning
  • Second offense: A public warning and temporary banning
  • Third offense: A permanent banning
This scheme, of course, depends on the severity of your infraction. If you do something unpleasant enough you may be banned after only the first or second time, especially if you act in retaliation to a warning. More likely you will be given several chances to straighten up or conform to our liberal expectations. If you don't want to conform to our expectations, you are free to look for another forum that does not expect so much from you.

We will do our best to make clear to you the reason for every moderation, deletion, or edit that we make. If it happens to you, don't take it personally. We aren't going to start a list of all the "troublemakers" who give us trouble, though if you make a habit of causing problems, you won't last long here. If you do something serious we will make sure you get a warning. Otherwise we'll just make a slight change and move on.

We want to treat everyone equally, but we are human. If you cause problems and generally cause chaos in the forums, your actions will fall under heavier scrutiny than those who are trying to abide by the guidelines and contributing to various discussions. We want to treat everyone fairly, but we cannot promise to do so. You are, of course, not obligated to be here.

We want this forum to be a fun place for the discussion of a variety of topics. We generally like people, and we are glad to have you here. We want this to be a flame-free and intelligent discussion forum, and we are committed to providing such an environment for you. If that sounds like something you would like to be a part of, then we're glad to have you join. However, if it seems too restrictive for you, we would prefer for you to look for another forum.
