Oh! I guess people need to listen to the Podcast faster! If they follow Nintendojo on Twitter.. they would know! I gave enough time!

So, anyhow.. Mario was called JumpMan in Japan in Donkey Kong. They gave him a better name when it came over here... after Mario Bros. came out. Oh, there is a C64 game called Jumpman that plays a bit like Donkey Kong in some regards. it is already out on Virtual Console in Europe and we will get it eventually. It's neat. Some Donkey Kong arcade cabinets still say Jumpman.. if you can track them down. Oh, Donkey Kong isn't just a wild ape from nowhere.. he's Mario's pet. Yeah. Strange.

Great Episode, technical troubles and all. I kind of think that technical-behind-the-scenes-issues-loving readers will love that you left that in the podcast. Verbal Versus kind of stumbled a little getting out of the gate, but quickly returned to a stride.

I will make sure to send in a lot of Haikus in the future so that you never have to repeat material and I encourage others to do the same.

Also, people.. I'm throwing it down now. Pop Quizes! Know them and be quick about them! Oh, and follow Wayforward Technology on Twitter and Matt Bozon on deviant art! I'm really an unabashed disciple of Wayforward Technology. They are one of my favorite companies.. I tend to latch on to companies that are doing stuff I approve of. A big thing with their games is something I call the "Wayforward Walk." Their best titles usually have -at one point or another- a sequence where the main character walks across the screen under the Wayforward emblem, or a level screen. This happens in Shantae, Xtreme Sports, Wendy: Every Witch Way, Contra 4, and many of their others. If it has the Wayforward Walk, chances are 99% that it will be awesome.

Oh, I think Microsoft suffers the most because it is up against the redesigned PS3 at the same price, and the much cheaper Nintendo Wii. The 360's biggest game this year was Halo ODST and that has hit well before the other shoe of the Wii price drop... fell.

Also, Microsoft hurts because of another threat: Portables. While the PSP Go will not make the splash Sony is hoping for (at least it won't at it's current price), the Nintendo DSi, DS Lite, and the PSP 3000 bundles are still a very significant threat to Microsoft's well being. The 360 will still do well for Halo. People still line up for midnight sales of Halo in the United States. But that won't be enough to save them once New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus hit the talk show circuit.

Yeah, Phil beat me to the answer. It's totally Jumpman. Or maybe Koji Kondo.

Good show. Greg is settling in nicely and Tidman is awesome as always (I don't give just anyone shoutouts on 2 consecutive podcasts), as is "Randy Mover" and of course Noah ringmastering the circus that is DSG.

Oh, and if you think Phil gives hefty feedback, check out episode 2 of Cross Border(no "s") Gaming. Phil gave us a whole page of stuff, and it was our longest episode until we actually started having him on the show.

Anyway, keep up the good work, and maybe you should get Phil as a Wild Card guest.

I cant believe I just heard Andy and Greg say that the original Metroid was not a good game. Fellas, I spent about a year playing that game going through every nook and cranny you could possibly find and I don't play crappy games. Playing that game all the way back in 1987 was an incredible experience so that in itself could be the problem. I can see it not aging as well but calling it a not so good game is just ludicrous. Maybe you guys werent gaming at the time to fully understand what the game achieved back then but please don't state your opinions as a fact. Other than that i can safely say that I enjoy the show every week. keep up the good work.

Hello, poptart. Please understand, I said it isn't that good of a game. Isn't as in by today's standards. It hasn't aged well, and yes it was a great game when it was released. I never meant to make it sound like I was trying to pass on my opinion as fact. Sorry for any mind-numbing, criss-crosses. I merely meant that compared to Super Metroid, it kind of lacks something. Say, a real feeling of a plot? Again, just my opinion. It definitely doesn't age as well as The Legend of Zelda.

I cannot accept your apology until you prove to all of us that you can beat it under 1 hour and unlock the secret ending. I will accept a picture of yourself standing next to the tv set as proof of your love for Metroid otherwise I dont want to hear from you till I download episode 58.

LOL Something tells me going through the brutal practice of perfecting a speed run through the original Metroid could only result in affection if stockholm syndrome was involved. And don't forget Poptart, I said it was a good game, as was the remake on GBA! So there are fans of Metroid on the show.

Back when Metroid 4: Fusion came out, I decided to marathon the first three before the release. I played ten minutes of the first game before realizing that it didn't really age well. So, I just popped in my old password and beat the game that way. Then I moved on to the far superior Metroid 2 and Metroid 3. Zero Mission was a great refresh or rather.. "polish" of the original game. It's still a good game though.

As for Kid Icarus... Of Myths And Monsters was a better game than the original one. It also had a battery save, bosses that were larger than the screen, and was a much more refined game than then the NES one.

I cant seem to like metroid 2 for the GB all that much. I guess maybe its because it is in black and white while the original had awesome levels that really stood out because of the colors. Noah can appreciate games and I like it!
I have enjoyed the 2D metroids more than the 3D ones for some reason.
