So, Virtual Pocket.......
I guess Nintendo is going to take a weird idea to Virtual Console/Virtual Pocket stuff on DSiWare?

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiware...tch/index.html

There's Game & Watch! Wouldn't it be great if the next thing up is "Game Boy" which would list a Game Boy logo on the bottom screen and a Super Game Boy style border on the top. Or better yet a "Game Boy Classics" line. They could offer black and white and colorized versions of games like Super Mario Land, Balloon Kid, Kirby's Dreamland, Revenge of the Gator, Alleyway, et cetra.

Of course, there are no plans to do such a thing as a DSi Virtual Console service that offered downloadable versions of classic handheld titles at all.

It print money!!!
I don't know why Nintendo doesn't want a DSi virtual console. But selling each G&W game at $2 is a brillant idea, from a financial perspective.

The irony is, those G&W games would run in emulated form? If this the case, then Nintendo would break its own rule of not releasing any game under emulation, like the case of Intellivision Lives!, which is still pending for aprovation.

They aren't emulated. They are coded from the ground up like they were in the GB/GBC/GBA/DS compilations.

If you'll notice, the games have their backgrounds. Those were just pictures on an overlay under the screen in the original units.

It will be very interesting to see if Nintendo does similar things with other older titles for the service. I mean, the company did re-release old NES games for Game Boy Advance at a premium price.

DMGice, could you see Nintendo releasing original Game Boy games through DSiWare for 5 bucks a piece? Is there a way to do it without the game running on emulation? Would just having one service make it less confusing for consumers? So many questions ...

I think a DSi VC would be gold for Nintendo to do. They're throwing away money by not doing it. There are a ton of titles I never got to play back in the day and would love to have a chance to. Like the Marioland games...and the Wario games. I never played any of those and would really like to be able to play them.

And that kind of service would mean I would go out right now, at midnight currently, and buy a DSi.

I told you to stop calling me a bug!!!

I recently got the Game and Watch Gallery game for the GBA but the only game I really want to play is Parachute....but you need to unlock it to get it. I used to own the original game and was quite good at it. I should have kept it since it fetches a pretty penny on Ebay now.

I think we will see some sort of movement in the future. Remember that Sony just threw down the gauntlet of having 4 Turbo Graphix 16 games released for PSN as "PC Engine Classics" for the same prices the games fetch on Nintendo's Virtual Console. This happened... today practically.

I think a special "Game Boy Classics" line would be great. They could do black and white with a Super Game Boy style border and a logo on the bottom screen. For Super Game Boy compatible games, they would just release them with their proper SGB colors/borders. GBC games would have a GBC Border. If they did a Game Boy Classics line, the first few would be Solar Striker, Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Revenge of the Gator. Tetris would require license clearing, and some sort of wireless work around for the multi-player. So games would have to be reworked somewhat in any case. I think that we could see -eventually- a huge amount of just first party GB/SGB/GBC games at first. Games like Golf, Kirby's Dreamland, Balloon Kid, Metroid 2, Kid Icarus, World Cup, et cetra.

I kind of think Konami would probably support it too as they had GBC versions of a lot of their Konami GB games, including Nemesis, and Operation C.

A huge amount of the old GB backlog would have weird license quirks.. so I would highly doubt we would get a ton of stuff quickly.. but I would not put first party titles out of the realm of possibility.

wait, wait, wait there were super gameboy games? i thought that was just for people to play regular GB games on a TV cause they're blnd of somethin.

if they did Virtual GB i may have to buy a DSI for the Wario games and that Donkey Kong game for GB, the one Mario vs. Donkey Kong is based off of.

also for that puzzle game Miymoto made where you are a mole. if Kid Icarus is on it too, well i may have to kill someone to get one with their credit card.
