You knew they had to. You knew they would. Even back at E3 2006, when we first heard about the Wii Remote and saw what it could do. The Other Two ridiculed it, but Sony was already on the "Move" with their Sixaxis. It wouldn't be long before they had their own answer to Nintendo's controller.

Personally, I'm surprised it took them this long. Personally, I think it's laughable. I couldn't help but laughing. Back at E3, when this was the only motion controller out of the 3 (Wii Motion Plus, Project Natal, and PS Move) to get a cheer from the audience, despite the fact it looks like a plastic ice cream cone (and that's a polite analogy), I was rolling. After all that criticism, after all that Nintendophobia, now they bow.

And if they wanted to stay in this industry, they would have had to, sooner or later. They always do. The PSOne controller was based on the SNES. And aside from the addition of the thumbsticks, it hasn't hardly changed since.

And most importantly, the question Nintendo fans must ask themselves is this: does this really pose a threat?

That's where the anger comes from. Fear. Fear of lost sales. Fear of lost development, which is already dwindling. Fear that Nintendo is slipping once again.

No. I don't think so. At least, not the PS Move itself. I don't think the controller alone poses a bigger threat than Sony does. And the same goes for MS and Project Natal. I think a lot of the wonder of motion capture is settling. Not dying, just settling, to where it should be. The initial excitement is gone, and it's all falling into place. And the playing field is leveling. It's just Nintendo can no long rely on that anymore, but neither can its competitors. That's where the shovelware comes from. I think we can all be happy when it's gone, or at least, evened out amongst the consoles, thanks to the addition of all the motion controllers.
