iPhone/iPod Touch as a gaming system? We've discussed it briefly on a couple occasions on CBG, and I always mention the iPod touch games I'm playing. With the vast quantity of games and other apps, it's hard to find the good ones, but they're out there.

Evan, I'm gonna miss you on DSG. Does this mean more Tidman?

As for the Gunpei Yokoi question, I'd have to say the Game & Watch. I know he did come up with that, but I'm not sure if that's what got him promoted from being a janitor or not. Maybe he invented Koji Kondo. ;)

I don't think this came out on the show as much, but I think there is the possibility for the iPhone/iPod Touch to be a competitive gaming handheld, but I think that right now saying that it's the best is a bunch of Apple iHotAir(TM). I have a friend who loves Zenonia and he had me try it out on his iPhone. I gave it a go, and it was impressive, but the entire time I was playing it I just wanted a D-Pad because it felt like it would be better with one. I kind of hope that Zenonia gets ported to either DSiWare or PSP Go because from what I saw of the game there was plenty there for an old-school action-RPG fan like myself to enjoy. The controls just didn't do it for me.

I think that the comments about DS and PSP were egotistical Appleisms ment to inflame fanboy rage and reassure Apple's investors. I think the comments did both those things.

We're all definitely going to miss Evan on the show. As a listener it was always interesting because he took the show one way, Andy took it another and Noah was just sort of anchored in the middle. It was pretty close to a perfect balance in my opinion.

As of right now I'm going to be on the show when I can, which should be regularly. Hopefully Evan will be able to be on the show occassionally, though if he does he will be talking from the future. Incidentally, in the future they have to wait three years to get new game releases. Some sort of weird time paradox, I'm sure. I'm not going to speak for Evan, but my gut tells me he'll still make it to the podcast occasionally...

Bonkai = Bleach

I think he did an extending arm called The Ultra (ultra ultra ultra) Hand.

Great episode by the way. It wasn't as chaotic as one would think with five hosts. (Which is why this show is easier to listen to than say.. Giant Bombcast.) Must be something in the tea?

Future debate topics?

Oh, if you can find it, check out Shantae.I just started replaying it.

Interesting bit of trivia: Coffee is mentioned in the Qua'ran and for a while was known as "the wine of Islam."

Another Wayforward game that *really* needs to be revived is Xtreme Sports. It's a mini-game extreme sport... RPG.

Shantae is also GBA enhanced!

If you liked Mighty Flip Champs, go pick up "Wendy Every Witch Way," "Sabrina: Spooked," "Sabrina: Zapped," and their under rated Scorpion King GBA game. Don't worry about the licenses, they are all excellent side scroller games with awesome engines. (Every Witch Way especially. You use gravity to kill things!)

As for the three GB Castlevania games? There's Castlevania Adventure (Kinda meh), Castlevania Adventure 2: Belmont's Revenge (EXCELLENT), and Castlevania Legends (under rated). Legends was about Sonia Belmont, the mother of Simon Belmont. While she has been retconned out of the franchise, I still consider it to be a great game. You even battle Alucard in it and there is an implication that Simon Belmont is Alucard's..... son. Which would have been interesting if they had kept it in. If you get the secret ending, you get to see Simon as a baby.

Here is a colorized version of Sonia Belmont that was made for a "DMG Ice" Christmas card that year. Check it out at Flick'r!

You need to have a Yahoo ID to view Flick'r stuff. While there.. why not peruse this folder of goodness.

Some of these are even better if you DON'T know the story or inside joke behind them.

The iphone is creating its own market. One that might tap into the ds/psp market if I may add but will not get one anytime soon.
