Star Fox: Reborn and Mature
Star Fox Command is the most story-driven game in the series, and it really adds a lot of depth and motivations to the various characters. Nothing lasts forever, and the game exhibits a sort of bittersweet vibe when it comes to the Star Fox team. Every member of the squad has gone their separate ways for whatever reason, leaving Fox and ROB alone in the Great Fox. They decide to investigate the Anglar threat themselves, and depending on your actions, you just might end up reuniting the team. Each member has his or her own emotional baggage, and the team will never be quite the same as it was. But when they unite against a common enemy, Star Fox can relive the glory days and save the Lylat System in the process. Seeing all of the members of the old team together one last time in Command is a great moment, however fleeting it may be.
Endings. Endings everywhere.
Command has a whopping 9 endings that can unfold from the events of the Anglar Blitz. The endings go across the full spectrum of outcomes, both good and bad for Star Fox. Out of all the endings, only one has Star Fox proper being reunited. Some endings have Krystal leaving Fox for good, while others show the couple finally settling down. There’s an ending with Andross’s grandson creating a new Venomian army, and another with Falco forming his own mercenary squad. There’s even one result that has Star Wolf claiming all the glory. In what’s perhaps the best ending, Fox hangs up his pilot’s outfit for good to start a family with Krystal, and their son joins a new generation of Star Fox where Falco is the giver of sage advice. Whatever choices you make in Star Fox Command can greatly alter the future events of the Lylat System, canon or not.
There are many great moments in the Star Fox series, from somersaults to poignant endings. As we look to the future, we can only hope that more great Star Fox moments are across the horizon.
