A Clouded Future

Which brings us to the present day, where we’ve heard very little from Star Fox since Command. Fox, Falco, and Wolf were fighters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in 2008 and there was a brief resurgence of Fox and friends in 2011 with Star Fox 64 3D for Nintendo 3DS, but that was just a remake of the classic.

Star Fox completely skipped out on a Wii release, despite indications from Nintendo that there was interest in a new game. Will we finally get a new console Star Fox soon? For the past year or two, there have been murmurs of a Wii U game, possibly developed by Retro Studios, but we’ll see in the not-so-distant future if this theory has any credence. With any luck, Star Fox will make a supreme comeback and not be lost in the depths of space.

Thanks for joining us in this journey through the history of Star Fox! Fox has taken some twists and turns throughout the years, but his legacy is a great one that has an important place in gaming history. Stay tuned all this week for more features celebrating the 20th anniversary of Star Fox!
