Get down to the grooviest town theme in Hoenn as we gear up for the 3DS remakes!

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are just around the corner, so for this week’s featured Nintendo track I figured we could take a trip back to the Game Boy Advance. The third generation of Pokémon was divisive among trainers at first, what with its many changes such as the cut-off from the past games, the interesting new direction in Pokémon designs, and the surf-heavy geography of the Hoenn region. However, the games introduced so many improvements that have since become integral to Pokémon (natures, abilities, and double battles to name a few). I have many great memories with this generation, as it introduced some awesome Pokémon like Metagross, Flygon, and Aggron. I hope Flygon gets a mega evolution…

Of course, we are returning to Hoenn later this week, so here’s our track of the week to celebrate! It’s the theme of Sootopolis City, the mysterious town hidden inside of a crater in the ocean. Wallace (and Juan in Emerald) are the Gym Leaders of this town, and they have some powerful water types in tow. Listen for the trademark Hoenn brass!

I can’t wait to hear the new version of this groovy theme in the Omega and Alpha games very soon. What are your favorite tracks from Hoenn? Anything you are particularly excited to hear in the remakes?
