10. Stantler
Aww, look at it, it’s so cute, it’s just a pretty little reindeer. Santa even uses a herd of them to pull his sleigh! But wait, there’s something odd about this one– its antlers. Pokédex entries tell us that it can create illusions and mirages if threatened, summoning up images of an entire herd of its species if it’s alone and frightened. Fair enough– it’s a pretty nifty self defence manoeuvre– but the dangerous and scary thing about this creature is the fact that it’s not just in self defence that it conjures these illusions. Anyone looking at that black orb on its horns will feel sleepy, lose control of their senses, and fall to the floor.
Hypnosis? Standard. There could be something more to this, though. With its antlers distorting the air around it, creating mirages, and supposedly distorting reality around it, one might assume that these reality distortions are all part of the mirage. But the Pokédex also tells us that witnesses to this effect feel drawn into it if they look at it for too long… Is it an illusion, or are there reality altering powers at work? If you consider the fact that Santa uses these creatures in the anime, it would also explain how he’s able to travel the world in one day– by using his Stantler to create some kind of wormhole… Scary. Just pray you don’t come across one while taking your Snubbull for a walk.
