7) Tetris DS

For a game that’s over 20 years old, Tetris sure is doing well for itself! Tetris DS took the classic formula, added in some Nintendo themed twists, and unleashed it on a global scale.

The online options weren’t mind-blowing, but the ability to play against an opponent online added to an already rich set of features, and what has remained a classic game. There’s still nothing better if you are looking for a quick distraction.

We’ve excluded Monster Hunter from the list (and from our poll) since it technically used Capcom’s servers for online play and not Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, but there’s no doubt that it was easily one of the most ambitious and addictive online games on any Nintendo console. ;)

Yeah, there was a number of great third party games that would have made the list if it had been open to all games with online play.

I agree with you though. I plan on getting Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as part of the Mario Kart promotion in a couple of weeks!
