8. The Various Bikes, from the Pokémon series
This is by far the simplest entry on the list. It is a bike. I could leave it at that, but that would be less fun. Red first had one of these in Pokémon Red and Blue, and all it did was grant you access to Cycling Road and… well, go fast. It was overpriced, as most bicycles are these days, with the cost set at one more Pokémon Dollar than you could even carry. There is always a loophole around these things, though, and you can get one for free with a Bike Voucher.
The Bike has come very far since then. In Ruby and Sapphire, Brendan and May had the choice of two Bikes: the Acro Bike and the Mach Bike. The Acro Bike travelled at the same speed as the regular model, but they could perform tricks on it, such as wheelies and bunny hops, in order to reach areas that were otherwise blocked off. The Mach Bike though was much faster, which resulted in the inability to perform the tricks of the Acro model. It did however, allow for Brendan and May to traverse muddy slopes with ease, and ride across cracked tiles (the amount of times I struggled to reach the top of Sky Pillar is truly shameful).
By Diamond and Pearl, bicycle technology had advanced to the point where all these features could be combined in a single model, even allowing Lucas and Dawn to shift between gears in order to progress. Apparently though, there were plans to have a skateboard in the Gold and Silver Beta version, though this sadly never made the final cut.
