Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

As you’ll see by the end of this list, I have a bit of a thing about the Selkie music from the Crystal Chronicles series. In fact, I have a bit of a thing about the Selkies in general. I’m not usually drawn to the thief-type jobs and characters in Final Fantasy games– they’re not particularly strong half the time, and their extra speed is often wasted with my style of play, which normally boils down to HIT IT WITH A STICK UNTIL IT DIES.

But there was something about the Selkies’ wild and wolfish appearance that made them far more attractive options than the relatively humdrum Clavats when I first fired up Crystal Chronicles, and there was no contest, really, when it came to making my choice about which adventurer would accompany me on my journey. It wasn’t until I heard this song, though, which plays in the seaside Selkie hometown of Leuda, that I really began to get a feel for them as characters. There aren’t really that many Selkies you encounter before you arrive in Leuda, but here there are dozens of Selkies in all their roguish glory, and there couldn’t be a better musical accompaniment to their mischievous lifestyle than a flurry of tambourines, intricate guitars and a light peppering of recorders.
