6) Bayonetta

First Appearance: Bayonetta (PlayStation 3/Xbox 360, 2010 | Wii U, 2014)

When Bayonetta first stormed onto the scene, it was as though she’d been there all along. Platinum Games and her creator Hideki Kamiya had plenty to prove with Bayonetta. Expatriates of Capcom and the defunct Clover Studios, Platinum Games developers wanted to deliver a game as ambitious and entertaining as the Devil May Cry series (which itself was created by Kamiya). Bayonetta as a character and game took many cues from Dante and Devil May Cry, but arguably improved upon them. Bayonetta is unabashedly herself, flaunting her sexuality while simultaneously smashing her opponents into the dirt. Bayonetta 2 is another game coming this Friday, October 24, and brings with it both the second and first game. Bayonetta’s future seems bright at this point, which is great for one of the most interesting new female heroes in gaming.
