1) Mario Kart Wii
The game offered 12-player online play and a whole slew of new and old tracks to race on. It also corrected the snaking issue from Mario Kart DS, which was either a kick in the teeth for pros or a godsend for the rest of us. You were also able to play online in split-screen mode with another player, which almost made up for a lack of two-player Grand Mix mode!
Where other online games suffered with connection issues and lag, Mario Kart Wii was largely free of these problems and provided a wealth of gameplay options. It also brought with it the Mario Kart Channel, which also happens to be making a comeback on Wii U with Mario Kart 8. Multiplayer has always been a staple of the franchise, and Nintendo went all out with the online component of this, making it one of the best Nintendo games that you could play online at the time.
So there you have it. Did I miss out any of your favourites? Or was the whole list a sham? Let us know in the comments. And if you’re reading this before May 20, be sure to go and play some of these while you still can!
