Frisbee disc sports need more recognition, and a DS game featuring two of the most popular and respected kinds seems like a great idea. But, does this attempt succeed in conveying the fun of the real-life sports? visuals Disc Sports is for DS, the platform that's specifically reaching out to the female demographic, and of any sports frisbee Disc Sports are the most co-ed. So, why are there only male characters to choose from? The in-game character models are so small that players probably couldn't tell the difference, so why not at least make two of the four profile photos female? The most interesting image is the photograph of real people playing Frisbee Disc Sports on the title screen. From there things get much more generic. Characters, trees, rocks; images are recycled to a high degree. audio gameplay As the title states, the game actually contains two Frisbee Disc Sports; Golf and Ultimate. Unfortunately, Ultimate is hardly playable due to a couple of factors. One is the extreme difficulty of making an interception; something that's relatively easy to do and a key component of real-life ultimate frisbee. Second, the simple, real-life act of hurling a frisbee is encumbered to the point of frustration by the game's use of too many buttons. Fortunately, Golf is another story and is the only saving grace of the title. Golf makes use of the touch screen to choose target, disc and throw, and nails a surprisingly playable simulation. Unlike Ultimate, Golf primarily uses the touch screen and buttons are an optional tweak. The end result feels much more natural, giving Disc Sports a 1UP. Golf has so much potential that the developers should have ditched Ultimate altogether and focused on it alone. A few more Golf courses with elevation changes, a simple first-person perspective engine (the DS can handle it), and the ability to customize your character could make Golf a knockout experience that's truly new. As it is now unfortunately, it's being weighed down by Ultimate. multiplayer overall
