Castlevania
Castlevania is not only the best entry in the second volume of the Classic NES Series, but it's also the only official way you can grab the title in portable form. The concept was revolutionary in its time and the gameplay still stands the test of time. If you have all three of the GBA incarnations of the series, you would do well to pick up the original.
visuals
The character design in Castlevania brought way to a whole new viewpoint in video games. The level design is easily one of the best, bringing a deep sense of platforming to the action. After over 15 years, the game still has a unique look.
audio
The music is memorable and the sound effects led the way to how action games sound today. There really is something refreshing about playing this title with the sound up.
gameplay
Castlevania is still in prime condition, even after so many years. As Simon Belmont, the player takes up his trusty whip and begins slashing at anything that moves, including lamps and other decorative objects, in order to grow more powerful. Upgrades include a longer whip, daggers, time-stop clocks, crosses, and axes. As the player progresses through the game, they'll eventually reach their destined encounter with Dracula. While there is no save feature in this title, the player can still continue from the level they left off from on the main menu.

overall
Out of all four of the Classic NES Series titles released, Castlevania is certainly the most recommended. If you have to pick up one of these titles, make it Castlevania.
