No Online Mode for Guitar Hero III Initially
Marco Halili 9/3/2007, 1:38pm Eastern Time

A recent interview with RedOctane co-founder Kai Huang, whose company is hard at work on the next iteration of Guitar Hero on all current generation consoles, has revealed that Wii guitar heroes won't be rocking out with other gamers across the country in an online mode -- at least not initially.

Responding to a question about the online options for Wii's upcoming Guitar Hero III, Huang responded, "There won't be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in."

Based on his response, it's fairly clear that while the game will not be shipping with an online component, Huang and RedOctane appear to be working hard with Nintendo on finding a way to include an online multiplayer mode down the road. A few of those options might include a downloadable update via WiiConnect24 or re-releasing the game in the future with online included, but nothing is set in stone at this time.

We'll have more on this Guitar Hero III development as information becomes available.
