Ken Kutaragi Doesn't Care Aaron Roberts 9/29/2006, 10:58pm Eastern Time
There are other companies coming out with video game consoles this year? Ken Kutaragi doesn't give a hoot. Speaking with British trade magazine MCV last week, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment was asked what his opinion was of the competing consoles in the games market. Without further ado about Wii or the Xbox 360, Kutaragi simply and bluntly said, "We don't care." Despite this fact that Kutaragi doesn't care about other systems which might steal PLAYSTATION 3's launch thunder, he did admit that there were some major problems manufacturing the somewhat-overly-expensive consoles. Apparently, the blue-ray laser diode which is the core of the system is very difficulty to produce, which is what is limiting Sony to five hundred thousand units at launch.
