Only one next-generation console made it into Toys 'R Us's "hot toy" list for this holiday season -- the Nintendo Wii.

Not only is Wii alone in this year's Toys 'R Us promotion, but it's also the first video game console ever to be featured in the publication. Toys 'R Us's Kathleen Waugh says the reason for including Nintendo's console instead of a certain other $600 monster was obvious. "The PLAYSTATION 3 is really geared to a savvy gaming enthusiast. The Wii system appeals to young kids as well as adults."

Waugh adds that another reason Wii was featured was because the company knew it would have "sufficient stock" of the system during the holiday rush, which probably would not have been true of other systems.
