A million Wii units for North America?

Nintendo of Canada vice president Robert Bertram said, in an interview with Mackenzie Financial, Bertram says that a million is the magic number.

"We're looking at a million (units) for North America at launch," he says, adding, "If we get what we're supposed to get, this will be our most plentiful launch in the 15 years I've been at Nintendo. All signs are actually extremely positive."

And he isn't even concerned about Sony's PLAYSTATION 3 launch, which predates Wii's by two days. ""Obviously the earlier you go, the less product you have available," says Bertram. "Sony is trying to do what they're trying to do - they're trying to rule the entertainment universe with this very expensive machine. And we're just trying to get more people playing video games and the people who are playing video games playing our system. We knew they were on the 17th but that really wasn't a big concern for us."

Assuming the numbers are correct, Wii's North American numbers will be double the amount of PLAYSTATION 3's available worldwide.
