Rumor: PS3 Production Has Begun Wally Pfingsten 7/19/2006, 12:02pm Eastern Time
A Chinese business newspaper called The Commercial Times is reporting that production for Sony’s forthcoming PlayStation 3 has begun. The report claims that manufacturer Asustek Computer is expected to deliver around 200,000 of the machines to Sony this month alone, while other PS3 manufacturers will begin deliveries in August. With more than half of July over, one might surmise that production at Asustek may have already been well underway when this report was made, in order to reach that goal of 200,000 units. Ultimately, none of this has been confirmed by Sony, and should therefore be treated as a rumor. Other unconfirmed reports over the past several weeks have also indicated that Nintendo already began Wii production earlier this summer.
